China's problems with the Uyghurs (Documentary from 2014 in HD)

रोजी प्रकाशित केले 15 फेबृवारी, 2018
For the first time, a French director-journalist will join an official trip to the heart of one of the most secret regions in China: Xinjiang. Unstable and by far the most volatile province in the country, it’s a unique opportunity to visit an area that’s normally out of bounds to tourists.

Located in the far northwest of the People’s Republic, on the borders of central Asia, Xinjiang is the scene of frequent clashes between the Chinese authorities and the Uyghurs, Turkish-speaking Muslims who, like their Tibetan neighbors, reject the colonization of their territory.
Going beyond the Uyghur problem (which gets less media coverage than the unrest in neighbouring Tibet) the aim of this documentary is to decipher the propaganda that is currently being put out by the Chinese, who are trying to convince the world, and Chinese tour operators in particular, that the region is a haven of peace, a heaven on earth suitable for mass tourism.
Thanks to reliable contacts amongst the organisers of this “Chinese tour” and the help of diasporas based in Europe and Central Asia, and thanks also to accounts given here for the first time by Turkish-speaking Muslims and footage of the most recent revolts, we’ll be able to draw a parallel between a slick, consensual tour and the distress of an entire race.
To get a better understanding of the extent to which everything here is built on lies and propaganda, we shall show videos shot by the minorities themselves as well as their accounts. It’s the kind of footage we rarely get to see, showing a reality that China would prefer to keep hidden...

  • Some videos promise much but deliver little, yours promised little but delivered a lot! Great video and very much insight into complex issues. Great work, keep it up!

    • @Prypiat M China invaded and stole their country in 1950. Time to go. Best if China could put up a wall and stop trading with the rest of the world.

    • insight! , the land belongs to china, that's it.

    • I am not Chinese, but South African. And the idea of East Turkistan is stupid in my view. China is a communist and atheist state, they do not care about Religion, Skin colour, culture and human rights, as long as you don‘t challenge their communist authority. The moment you want independence and challenge their authority, then you are looking for trouble. Chinese communist is simple and brutal, they will crush you no matter if you are Muslim or Christian, no matter if you are American or native Chinese.

    • @За Великой Стеной Затаился Дракон The Chinese Communist party is not a government of love and compassion, it is a government of deceit and oppression, to say otherwise is a big laugh. Why can't the Chinese leave these people alone to live their lives. The Chinese just wants to take the land because it is the best.

    • the subtitle is far from accurate. The soldier was saying in mandarin "watch your step" and then the English subtitle translates it to "don't delay". Who translated this? and how, by imagination?

  • Bast**d cameramans(tourists), what the fk they are ruining someone's privacy

  • this place looks like the Moon

  • BIG PROBLEM - Deciding which is the bigger problem - communism or terrorism??

  • This is very informative why can’t Chinese let them preserve their regional culture.

  • Excellent! Thanks a lot for the film

  • Although my opinion may not be correct, I would like to express my opinion. If China cannot defend its territories, foreign countries may step in. If the situation is serious, it may result in world war. I guess it was what happened in the past. China does not only have to defend its coastal territories, but it also has to defend its inland territories. The cultural and religious differences between Han Chinese and ethnic minorities Chinese may result in conflicts. What is more serious? World war? Or conflicts between Chinese? China is trying to reduce the cultural differences between Han Chinese and Ethnic minorities Chinese by teaching ethnic minorities Chinese Mandarin Chinese language and the skills to make their livings. Han Chinese try to respect ethnic minorities Chinese. Ethnic minorities Chinese are given the opportunities to improve their education, employment and living conditions. For example, some Tibetans promote Buddhism in Hong Kong, and some ethnic minorities Chinese moved into the city where they can study in the universities.

  • Bad translation in 43:16...it's 'quite a few' instead of 'not so much'...

  • Scary ...

  • You are so negative in your portrayal !! This is chinese territory how do you expect a sovereign country to let go of their territory upon demand?? Ridiculous!!

  • Now the situation is even much worse than 2014 😢, they don't get help at all.tge Chinese communist party don't allow anyone go in.

  • The commentator went to Xinjiang with the sole aim of proving his own views about how the Chinese treat the Uighurs. I thought the whole province was an open concentration camp according to western media.

  • This presenter practiced double standard also. Xinjiang has been part of China ever since Han Dynasty, even before Islam and Buddhism were born. Xinjiang at one time was under Buddhism and other beliefs including Christian etc.. French, British, Dutch and many other Europeans came into China proper to colonize all parts of China in 1800s and 1900s before the Japanese invaded China during the second world war. China was almost gone during that shameful period. Thanks be to God for His vindication; now China has been back to her own two feet again but CCP is not the best ruler for the Chinese but Islam is even worse!!! No European powers are qualified to speak against China taking back her land from Islamic and other regional powers because they themselves are hypocrites. They should read their own colonial history in China, in Asia, in Africa etc.... Shame on this broadcaster!!!

  • They are forced to accept everyone into their homes? wait what

  • You don't need permission to enter an Uyghur's house if you're with the tour? Even thought it's allowed, I can't in good conscience to do that to anyone. I truly feel for the Uyghurs. Man, this really sucks. Thank you for opening my eyes, is there any petitions that I can sign to help the Uyghurs in any ways, please let me know.

  • Jesus to walk in someone house just like that uugh...

  • This is the side of china that makes me ashamed to be chinese

  • Thank you Great video

  • Such a sad form of Chinese Imperialism and Colonialism.

  • There are always two sides of a coin. unfortunately when we are having a preconceive opinion to start with, all we will be doing is just looking for things that can justify and substantiate what we want to see and ignoring those we don't. That is exactly the problem of human fallacies and socialcentric tendency.

  • Damn... creepy! And like a George Orwell’s book.

  • They are humans, please!! 😞😞

  • I am cry for many people who still live here... cry for my people 😞😞

  • In fact, I hate to see making Uighers like American Indians.

  • This proves one thing. There's no god.

  • The Uyghurs looked more Asians than Turkish but because they are muslims and lived near border of Islamic nations, this became an issue. Before the Islamic invaders from the west attacks, the population were predominantly tibetan Buddhist. But after several invasions and forced religious conversion, Islam became the religion of Uyghurs.

  • No privacy just like walking into a place of attraction but apparently turn out to be some family home. Poor Uyghurs citizen, dont even feel like watching the entire video make me feel sickening how this ppl is being treated.

  • Cannot imagine the amount of bullshit and propaganda here. I've been the Xinjian twice and will do a third time next year. It has been peaceful since 2016. My Uyghur =friends have told me the terrorists and extremists are all taken out. In this video, there is some Caucasians narrating - why do they hide their faces if they are telling the truth? Xinjian is opened to tourism throughout the four seasons. There is no restrictions on hiring an Uyghur guide to bring you around in the cities.

  • Am sorry but I am a British white male from Liverpool England and I absolutely love what the Chinese have done!!!!! Am sorry but if they want people who want to live on their land play by the rules set by the government fair bloody play, unlike Britain who allow schools for Muslim children not even on the nations coriculem to invoke hatred towards the country they where born in! And push jihad onto Britain’s Muslim Children , yes this is the extreme end of the spectrum and many if not most Muslim people in Britain are good people, every race colour creed has there problems, but I also think if the country wants to set rules well the country can do what they like. Well done China

    • Eh, it's not really the same situation. In the case you're describing it is about allowing a _foreign_ culture in one's own country. In the case of China it is disallowing the _local_ culture and forcing a foreign one. China is absolutely massive, so to better understand it, you can imagine it as Europe if that was one country (but bigger yet). For Uighurs to be forced into Chinese culture is comparable to Britons being forced into Turkic culture.

  • History just keeps repeating itself over over again. Evidence that humanity learns very little.

  • The women dancing are beautiful

  • Step by step, minorities' culture, religion, and identity have been removed. Then, brainwashing and ethnic cleaning follows-replaced reprogrammed their mind and society with what Chinese want for total control. I visited Xinjiang in 2007. I can see what has been done in the area. Tragic.

  • As you predicted in 2014, the Uyghurs have now almost vanished. What a beautiful culture and so sad to see them become a victim of the communist regime’s expansionism.

  • I knew it's an anti-China video in the first minute. Xinjiang belongs to China since the great Qing emperor fought a war and won. China took over this vacant land and invited Uygurs from outside China to settle there over 300 years ago. Now they want to separate and create their own country? Why don't they go back to where they came from? Please read some history first. Mao didn't take it over 50 years ago. He just reclaimed it back from the separatists.

  • The things is though no one is doing anything to change the regime. It is so sad that no one can stop these evil people for wrongdoing and for demolishing the nation slowly. Sad very sad. Many nations were in silence because they were benefiting from China and dependable business-wise. Now that many against them due to pandemic and etc... nations are starting to dig deeper. Which is good of course. At the end humanity is so sad. You don’t help someone unless it is beneficial for you. Sad creators! Hopefully global organizations will do something together to stop these and safe the nation!

  • I can't see any sign of happiness on their faces...... Seems more like fearful.... I feel sorry for them.... 😔😔

  • Interesting, but doesn't change my opinions in the slightest.

  • 新疆再教育营迫害人权臭名昭著

  • So this is from 2014?! I was there in 2012, very easy to travel around, very few interactions with police and the ones that happened were super easy and friendly. These travel restrictions they claim in the description of this video must have come in after 2012 I suppose?!

  • Normally I don’t give a shit but wow how humiliating for these ppl

  • God bless the Uyghurs.

  • Nice video on beautiful Xinjiang and I won't comments on the politics. But I cannot help noticing how clean and nice the roads are, people with modern bikes and even the people who complained, were in a nice modern air conditioner car with leather seats. (OK, I could be wrong here because it could be the journalist rented car). Overall, the entire place looks much better than the poor folks in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria etc., places that other countries had tried the same "help to liberate and improve" the lives of those people. Still, thank you for showing the beautiful and ancient Xinjiang and its people....Cheers.

  • When can we love as humans we are all humans this is disgusting treating ppl with hate

  • Up Laudenum! Up Uyghurs! (With apologies to Asterix in *****)

  • it the same problem all over the world religion and government fight overpower but with the Noahide law religion is history

  • 16:29 this part concludes what China is doing in East Turkistan and how Uygurs react to it

  • It's kind of creepy that the CCP propagandist tour leader speaks American English.

  • If Western Journalists are not welcome why is the tour guide speaking English?

  • Muslim regions in countries like China and Russia are always the richest regions in that country! So, these stories about Muslim oppression and poverty is mostly faked up propaganda!

  • ..she's cute 💹

  • I try to avoid buying anything made in China & you should too.

  • Gues what happend to the people who got interviewed....

  • One thing you can be sure, there are three regions the Chinese government will NEVER EVER abdicate on its sovereignty: Tibet, Hong Kong, and Xianjing.........And they'll risk a war that can put all Asia in a fire, in case they need it......

  • another biased video. the video didnt tell the fact that xinjiang was territory of china in yuan tang qing dynasty, only said PRC annexed the region in 1950,so people without knowledge about relevant history would assume it was a total irrelevant idependent country apart from china. and they hide the truth that there were more that 20 native ethnics in xinjiang, uyghur was the largest ethnic in xinjiang back to 1900s while only 2% population was han chinese, other ethnics like kazak hui mongol tajik occupies large amount of population, uyghur was not the dominate ethnic in xinjiang. eastern turkestan is only the daydream of uyghur, they wanted to be independent during china civil war back to 1900s. BTW,xinjiang used to have a large group of manchu people back in 1930s,guess how they disappeared.

  • Thats why we should always respect and thank our ancestors who resisted foreign invasion and fought and die for our freedom and for our future.....they didnt die for nothing...to all those free people, dont bloody forget that your ancestors (at one time/generation) fought for our freedom....and not cuz they like bloodshed, love horrors of war and so on...they just wanted a free and simple life....despite knowing completely the fact that they can never enjoy freedom, simple life and happy etc etc ,they still fought and laid down their lives without any regrets...for what???for you and me..

  • Only reason West is angry what China is doing is because West is not doing it. This exact same thing Europe did to Africa, USA and South America. They forced these places in their own image. South America is Spanish. North America is English and Africa is English and French. Hypocrisy

  • The world must speak up and stop the genocide of Uyhur people.

  • This is what china would do to the West

  • Great Video

  • #FREEUIGHUR

  • The culture (of Uyghurs) is so different from chinese. Many of uyghurs also look different. How did they become a part of China to the first place? Did Uyghurs volunteer to become a part of China back in the history?

  • They won't be better off with out China. China is keeping them alive

  • We will not forget you!!!! There is freedom in movement! There is freedom in movement ! We need you moved out of the jails you are in!

  • It's either letting a group of tourists walkabout in your staged house and pretend that the uninvited tourist are not there. or It's the CCP's Re-education camps. The German was spot on stating It's like Disney Land. or animals in a living museum. The HOLY KORAN. Does not need any TRANSLATION. That's why it's written in Arabic.HENCE It Has not and Can Not be Changed. Any Iman Any MOSQUE anywhere around the globe can attest to this.except in CHINA.It's OBAY and NO COMPLAIN. The Chinese Communist Party.HARAM.

  • Kashmiri also facing facing the same problem in india. Pls do make a documentary about present Kashmiri plight

  • American trouble making

  • This is really bad. How do you take someone’s photo without permission.

  • The people who could best help to save the Uighurs from the genocide (physical and cultural) that has been cruelly and ruthlessly inflicted on them by China's expansionist rulers are the Russians. Thus, to save the Uighurs from genocide, the world, especially the USA, Japan, Canada, Australia, the Koreans, Turkey, the Central Euro-Asians, the South-East Asians, India, and the Europeans, thus must collaborate with Russia, not making life more difficult for it.

  • India should take back POK , Akshi Shin, free Tibet and Hong Kong and other regions occupied by Chinese Government need to be made independent and China should be made Democratic 💪 it's time whole world should join for

  • You will see a lot of similarities in the Chinese islands , taiwan and Tibet . You can bet they will try to start this in the Solomon islands around Australia, in africa and other places china is spreading.

  • The title is wrong . It is " The Uyghurs problems with China "

  • Uighurs not turkic~~ we are gypsys from India!

  • This video is so focused on the on called propaganda, that is not correct. We want to see more of the real life there.

  • Thank you for the video. But it is not Xinjian or part of China. It is a completely a country called East Turkistan which has occupied.

  • One would have thought that after the second world war, the UN which was set up to prevent annexation of independent countries is not preventing such actions by expananist countries countries like China would have been brought under control from misadventure. Unacceptable to see the expansionist polices of China in annexing Tibet and Yughir not being rectified.

  • the Uyghurs people are like Iranian people ، In terms of face ،culture and dress👍

    • They are some similarities of course as you know we Turks learnt Islam from Iranians so it is possible to have a lot of similarities. But to be honest they are really and obviously different than Iranians if you look from close. :)

  • 7:55 in the eyes of those dudes there is EVERYTHING !!! it's 2020 now and the situation in there is dramaticaly changed . a minority in their own land the Uighurs are struggling to survive , most of the men are gone , some other (mainly women ) escaped to Turkey and parentsless kids are given to Huan families . Things are simple in China , State allways wins , no matter who you are and what you stand for , the weight of the party weigh billions of tons and crashes everyone that stands in his way . Milions of farmers moved in from other regions to replace the natives , it's demographic engeneering at his best ( worst ) allmost like USSR in the 30's .

  • It is a bit difficult to pass on a coment. Nothing exposed on public health care.

  • What can we do, what can I do, this is really really heart breaking 💔

  • I can't believe I am feeling sympathy for a group of Muslims.

  • altay montains

  • yes Tibbets also turks orgian

  • Ugyur was Turks orgian

  • It feels like a tour in North Korea

  • It's sad to think about all the oppression done by the majority to a weaker group....but these dilemma have been repeated time and time again throughout the ages.... These topic is not solely about the Chinese but it's apply to nations.... The British had theirs dark side during the Imperial colonisation and how their treated the local inhibitions... Japan did it to the Chinese... The Dutch did it to the Indonesian... The American did it to the Indians... The Aussie did it to the aborigines... The Kiwis did it to the maua... I even don't have a proper name because of what the oppressors did to our identity.... So don't be so cruel to judge the Chinese....

  • Will the Chinese president get himself shave by that Uighur old man barber? ????😀

  • This should be compulsory viewing for every human on the planet about how NOT to treat your fellow man. I am a Christian and I stand heart and soul beside the Uyghur. China’s ‘game’ of plausible deniability and ‘saving face’ in the international sphere in regards to its inhumanity is sickening, but unfortunately not surprising. My heart goes out to all Uyghur, and you will always be in my prayers to God. All free people and otherwise of the world know who the bully nations are. We know which leaders treat their people with respect. I think leaders of nations should take heed of this.

  • The boy at 47:19 is holding a bag with INDIAN CARDAMOM written on it. Indian spicies are everywhere.

  • how can they change the translation of Quran ? or surahs ?

  • german that speaks french?

  • It seems like i m watching the documentary on North Korea.

  • It`s so funny that a French journalist talking about opression after what they have done in Vietnam azd Algerie in the 50`s and 60`s. Both of them were full of war crime and nobody take responsibility for that. Not to mention to ask apology from these nations. So France, shut your mouth!

  • China always likes to invade what is not theirs. This is saddening to watch and I hope someday they will be free under the Chinese government

  • All white people were talking and showing how knowledgeable they are about Urghur people in this video. So white is right??????

  • quite ironic that the han chinese love the 'mixed' look of uyghurs, but not their culture, language, and traditions and religion. shame!

  • 18:25 Did he drive on the middle line to surpass the other cars?

  • it is the same, in USA the American Indians has already diminish. Australia the aborigines where are they now,

  • The tour guide on the bus has a decent American accent, I wonder what their background is.

  • Same thing happened in Transylvania. Romanians were encouraged to move there so they could outnumber the native Hungarian population. They have even created a fake history which claims they were in the region prior to Hungarian speakers. All fabricated and false.

  • As if the Uighurs will flourish in the states like Native Americans did
