  • I can't believe they are so stupid that they made facial recognition software that ignores signature features while finding random similarities and call it a match. That is the dumbest science ever done.

  • Police using social media footage of protests to find people with outstanding warrents. Not sure I have a problem with that... if you have warrants and you should be turning yourself in.

  • But they've also caught many fascist seditionists with that technology

  • Purely mathematical machines say all asians look alike...i mean come on....is math racist now

  • Not to mention the fact that people look alike. What happens to the pick up line: You look just like my friend...

  • To be entirely fair, it did help grab those people who participated in the capitol riots in Jan. And that's a good thing. However, equally having facial recognition used for something like THAT is different than on a protest.

  • That Chinese guy saying "we gonna do something good...." I had the chills down my spine

  • Your complaint ain't about the tech or its implementation, but your stupid racist incompetent implementation of so many things in usa.

  • Forget bout protesters DHS is using it for asylum cases to see if your posts on social media contradicts your story🙄

  • "So much interest...." Yeah, in money.

  • 5:05 - For the eventual moron who says "well don't have outstanding warrants" - the police database you're being referenced to might not have pictures. So it could be a case of mistaken identity, and now the police has up to 48 hours to officially charge you. Imagine spending 48 hours in a holding cell just cause your name matched someone else's.

  • Who else thought the fish on the right side was the loser?

  • 20 years challenge and variants are attempts to improve these kind of algorithms

  • So no more under cover police; no more do miscreants have any problems finding out exactly who high court justices are and where they and their relatives live ? WE NEED TOUGH LAWS TO DETER THIS GOING ON. RIGHT NOW.

    • Police are the miscreants

  • positive side effects of covid? masks trashed facial recognition

    • Someone trying to weaken the USA? YEAH!!! SIGN ME UP!!!

  • So, this is prescient because it literally is already misflagging Black people and ruining lives here in the US 😶 Also: Timnit Gebru getting fired for being ethical not long after this is 😬

  • I behave so differently on fb than in real life, on purpose, because it's so fun to have people think I'm this obnoxious imprint, and they'll happily spread that misinformation, and then get laughed at by people who actually know me in person. Very easy way to spot the people who care about status instead of real world. Find Face would find such a mess of a person lol

    • @s j s Didn't say I act like an asshole tho. Obnoxious and flat out asshole are very far from another if you ask me :)

    • fun fact: your behaviour is real regardless of where you do it or who you do it to. being on the internet is not a carte-blanche for being a douche.

  • Power corrupts,Pigs fly now and have eyes in the sky.

  • Couldn’t they change the terms and agreements, then kick them off the platform?

  • I don't get america its the same as china targetting protesters in hong kong

  • Now replace "BLM Protestors" with "Capitol Terrorists" around a year later and everyone is more than happy when the people are getting caught by this very method.

    • Because the latter caused actual harm

  • The elites are so paranoid that the average people will burn their whole BS system of slavery down, they are are putting into a place a system that will be used as a hunter of anyone they deem a possible threat I predict millions will come up missing in the very near future. One can not even go to casino in California without having their picture taken, and now one must empty their pockets of all contents and walk through a metal detector-this has not one thing to do with a BS virus-it is total control of peoples movements. They just started asking for peoples proof of vaccination. C-O-V-I-D "Certification of Vaccination I.D." No proof, you don't enter..Soon this will be in place for all stores and the purchase of anything-including food..it is more than obvious to what's being done here..hidden behind the BS skirts of a BS virus.

  • 9:29 \\ Horrible lighting, no contrast in the face at all... photo of the "white guy": studio lighting. Sure. Fair comparison. It's also nice how we ignore that camera's need light to be able to observe things... and dark things have a tendency of not reflecting light... ooh but sorry.. physics are racist... that's the conclusion we have to draw right?

  • Block Your front camera FISHES!

  • Ah yes the two types of English men John Oliver and Russell Howard

  • just because you can do something doesn't mean you should

  • Does anybody really want to improve society and civil liberties? Get rid of "targeted marketing", get rid of the massive data collected and stored on everybody, get rid of robo-calls. Hell for that matter, get rid of smart phones all together.

  • "white guy no problem" seriously? Way to dismiss men's problems in a fun way. I'm a long time fan but I feel like you've crossed from "super wokeness" into "preachy dogma"

  • Oh, also: Facial recognition was used to find the people who committed treason on January 6th...

  • Well, to be fair, if he were to exclude countries that illegalized homosexuality, he'd be accused be accused of Islamophobia.

    • Delayed response to see if MRlevel just up and removed the comment due to the words I used...

  • That smile at the finish will haunt my repose. ._.

  • I thought the video was about fecal recognition

  • Now in 2021 they're using the same technology to catch the capitol insurrectionists. Where do we go from here?

  • Who knew that when this was first broadcast, we didn't know it would help so much with the Capitol Riots. I' don't think it's ok in everyday society, but after a clear crime has been committed (not just a peaceful protest)--It is helpful. Also if a child/woman has been abducted, etc...crimes. You lose the right to privacy once your storm the capitol or harm someone.

  • "white guy, no problem - the unofficial motto of history" lmaooooo

  • well this technology just helped us identify Capitol rioters

  • America Wat a SHHTT SHOW

  • I just realized that even if the US companies have stopped developing facial recognition technology, China hasn't. That's worrying me because you know that China doesn't really care about human rights. If US companies don't sell their technology to problematic countries, China will.

  • All is lost! :)

  • Iris recognition pls

  • I can't tell my wife from her sister in thier kids photos. Nearly twins. Google can.

  • You could kill someone this way. Ever seen video of a gun on a drone? Give it autonomous facial recognition and it becomes assassin. Scary.

  • Alright so always wear your mask, always be armed, and cover up as much of yourself with clothes.

    • there are some hyper-reflective materials that make for excellent masks: they are so reflective they bug out digital cameras & effectively prevent ANY image of you from being taken, let alone it being compared to a database...

  • every week John talks about a problem and it's always unfettered capitalism.

  • If China is doing it, do the opposite.

  • harness the pain LOOOOOOOOOL

  • This is absolutely terrifying!

  • Weren’t they Freddie gray riots not “protests”

  • ITS TO LATE

  • The amount of respect I have lost for your work after finding out you’re associated with the next for autism event is astronomical. If you can’t do the one google search it takes to listen to autistic voices on this matter, then I dont trust you to properly research your stories. Nothing about us, without us!

  • the fuck’s up with ur hair?

  • when facebook and google think its bad, you know its really bad @_@.

  • Ok I am gonna make a point People say "its a sacrifice to protect the community, I'm not gonna break the law so it's no problem" but 200 years ago it was illegal to be coloured, how can you trust the enforcers so much to accept their total control, we can already see how they use it in China, what if one of the western governments goes authoritarian? The future of freedom is grim

  • Did that AI just returned images in a search of someone who was a minor at the time?! Wtfffffff

  • Google and it workers make me laugh. They get all upset about it being used in the U.S....However the company cooperates with many oppressive regimes in the world with this type of software in order to make sure they keep adding to their 500 billion cash pile. The whistle blowers should have walked out long ago if they felt that using Facial Recognition software at all was a violation of human rights.

  • even white technology says "na they all look the same"

  • Bruh "White guy - no problem" is my next tattoo XDDD
